Hell, yeah. Bust out the Little Debbie treats, babe, because we are settling in for the afternoon.

[The city of hermit crabs has definitely caught her attention, but Darlene plays it cool. She spares it just a few extra seconds of study before kicking at her backpack to make the zipper more accessible. Angles herself a little nearer to the tank as she crouches down and starts rummaging around without revealing the contents too immediately. Secrets are important.]

And bust out the weed too, okay, I think I was pretty clear in what I'm here for, and it is not your hospitality.

[ Kitty sighs and goes - a little strangely, perhaps - into the bathroom. She emerges a moment later with an opaque plastic bag, from which she pulls the cellophane-wrapped weed. It's a bit extreme, perhaps, for a hiding place for marijuana - storing it in your toilet tank - but that's what she always did with her identity documents (and continues to do with her fakes), so why not? Fortunately, she left the outermost plastic bag inside the bathroom, so this one is dry and not remotely contaminated with toilet water.

She sets it on the table beside Darlene, then goes into the kitchen to pull down the fruits of her latest stress-baking session. In this case, it's brownies (salted caramel) and little shortbread cookies with lemon curd. ]

[Mmm, toilet weed.

Darlene collects her shit and goes over to take up space on the couch, sinks down with queenly grace with one foot tucked under her. Shoes still on.]

Bring scissors! [--she yells at Kitty, as she picks up the package and starts picking apart the cellophane.

This new vantage point has her closer to the tank, and Kitty is safely knocking around in the kitchen, so Darlene is free to observe magical crab land, which actually looks pretty bitchin'. She narrows her eyes at the little screen, then sucks in a breath.]

Holy shit, is this Heathers? Are you freaking kidding me?

What?

[ Kitty sticks her head out of the kitchen, and looks at Darlene's hands, assuming heathers is some name for the weed - but, no, she's looking into the hermit crab city. So it takes a moment for Kitty to process it, and put together what she's asking about, before - ]

Oh. The one with the shell that plays films? Yeah, I think so. Billy does those. My housemate. I can usually tell what sort of mood he's in by how nihilistic the film looks. [ A beat - ] He's been in a wretched mood lately.

Anyway, if you reach in and pet it, it'll start playing the dialogue, as well.

[What is your damage, Heather? Pleased at this development, Darlene smirks to herself as she peels off the first layer of cellophane. Good movies playing in the background--even in silent, even in miniature--is like comforting, somehow. Like having a friend hanging around.]

[ I'm cool, Kitty thinks to herself, frowning as she pulls down a few glasses and fills them with water. Honestly. She learned magic through trickery and subterfuge, traveled to another dimension, saved the bloody world - what more has she got to do to be cool? Knowing some bloody movie, apparently. Honestly, the priorities of people in this world are just completely fucked.

Sigh. ]

You ought to get to know him. [ Since protesting her coolness will get her exactly nowhere, she knows. ] He likes the sorts of things you like. Though he's a bloody lot sweeter than you.

[ She finally comes out and sits down. She kicks off her shoes, then curls up in the armchair like a cat, legs twisted up behind her. ]

[Darlene turns that smirk on Kitty for a sec, then gets to work cutting up the unwrapped weed.]

[She scrapes the cut up pieces into a neat pile on the plastic draped over her thigh, using her fingernail to keep good order.]

[ She snuggles down further in her chair, twisting herself up even further to really get comfortable. Kitty is rather alarmingly bendy. ]

There's no bloody science that can turn a hermit crab shell into a movie projector, is there. Billy is a very powerful spellcaster. One of the most powerful in his own world, and one of the most powerful here, too.

[Her pipe clinks quietly against her rings when she shakes it out of the bag. Expertly, Darlene flips it around and starts packing the bowl with little pinches and pushes of her fingers.]

[ Kitty catches the lighter capably, then sits up. She shoots Darlene a slightly dubious look, but goes for it - she wishes she could ask Darlene to do it first, just for a model, but she really doubts that Darlene would try it without seeing Kitty go first - and manages. Though she ends up coughing, of course. She does turn her head away from the pipe, in spite of her annoyance at the way that Darlene phrased that request.

Her response to the taste is a low, disgusted - ]
