[ Kitty, as promised, is at the house at four. She's tidied up (wondering all the while why she's tidied up), and dressed up a bit (again, why the hell is she bothering, she's just going to be laughed at).

She...hasn't really done anything with the marijuana. She really hasn't much idea of what it is you're supposed to do with the stuff. Drugs had passed through her hands, sure, back in the Resistance days - there were a few informants who'd talk in exchange for opium - but she's never done anything. But she's quite confident that Darlene will have very strong, pointed, judgmental opinions about the proper way to do things. ]

[Darlene does Kitty the solid of knocking at the door. Not impatiently, either. Normal knocking. Then she steps back, arms folded over her chest, hip cocked, mouth pinched up.

When the door is answered, Darlene flashes a tight smile.]

Hi. I'm here about the drugs.

[ Kitty's eyes narrow in annoyance - honestly - but she doesn't comment. Instead, she waves Darlene inside, and flips her hair over her shoulder, and closes the door behind her. And then, because she is always very much an English girl, she immediately asks: ]

Would you like some tea?

[Darlene slouches past Kitty, a passing smell of cigarettes and some kind of nice perfume, more earthy than flowery. Her eye is (not surprising!) critical, as she surveys her new surroundings.

She shrugs off her backpack and drops it on the floor, with a muffled clunk.]

[ Darlene's not wrong: the place is pretty cute. Kitty, who is by old habit very minimalist, keeps the place very tidy and well in order; Billy makes it pretty fucking adorable with the use of his magic. Case in point: off in the corner in the living room, there's an entire city in miniature, and crawling through it are a whole raft of hermit crabs. A working model hermit-crab metropolis, complete with beach (with waves and all) and working automatic hermit-crab-sized doors. Some of those hermit crabs are walking around, too, with absolutely mind-blowing shells - one patterned with a sparkling, moving replica of the galaxy. One shell is actually playing the film Heathers on a tiny, silent loop.

Magic is fucking weird. ]

Cakes? Biscuits? Anything?

Hell, yeah. Bust out the Little Debbie treats, babe, because we are settling in for the afternoon.

[The city of hermit crabs has definitely caught her attention, but Darlene plays it cool. She spares it just a few extra seconds of study before kicking at her backpack to make the zipper more accessible. Angles herself a little nearer to the tank as she crouches down and starts rummaging around without revealing the contents too immediately. Secrets are important.]

And bust out the weed too, okay, I think I was pretty clear in what I'm here for, and it is not your hospitality.

[ Kitty sighs and goes - a little strangely, perhaps - into the bathroom. She emerges a moment later with an opaque plastic bag, from which she pulls the cellophane-wrapped weed. It's a bit extreme, perhaps, for a hiding place for marijuana - storing it in your toilet tank - but that's what she always did with her identity documents (and continues to do with her fakes), so why not? Fortunately, she left the outermost plastic bag inside the bathroom, so this one is dry and not remotely contaminated with toilet water.

She sets it on the table beside Darlene, then goes into the kitchen to pull down the fruits of her latest stress-baking session. In this case, it's brownies (salted caramel) and little shortbread cookies with lemon curd. ]

[Mmm, toilet weed.

Darlene collects her shit and goes over to take up space on the couch, sinks down with queenly grace with one foot tucked under her. Shoes still on.]

Bring scissors! [--she yells at Kitty, as she picks up the package and starts picking apart the cellophane.

This new vantage point has her closer to the tank, and Kitty is safely knocking around in the kitchen, so Darlene is free to observe magical crab land, which actually looks pretty bitchin'. She narrows her eyes at the little screen, then sucks in a breath.]

Holy shit, is this Heathers? Are you freaking kidding me?

[ Kitty sticks her head out of the kitchen, and looks at Darlene's hands, assuming heathers is some name for the weed - but, no, she's looking into the hermit crab city. So it takes a moment for Kitty to process it, and put together what she's asking about, before - ]

Oh. The one with the shell that plays films? Yeah, I think so. Billy does those. My housemate. I can usually tell what sort of mood he's in by how nihilistic the film looks. [ A beat - ] He's been in a wretched mood lately.

Anyway, if you reach in and pet it, it'll start playing the dialogue, as well.

[What is your damage, Heather? Pleased at this development, Darlene smirks to herself as she peels off the first layer of cellophane. Good movies playing in the background--even in silent, even in miniature--is like comforting, somehow. Like having a friend hanging around.]

So your housemate's the cool one, huh. Figures.

[ I'm cool, Kitty thinks to herself, frowning as she pulls down a few glasses and fills them with water. Honestly. She learned magic through trickery and subterfuge, traveled to another dimension, saved the bloody world - what more has she got to do to be cool? Knowing some bloody movie, apparently. Honestly, the priorities of people in this world are just completely fucked.

Sigh. ]

You ought to get to know him. [ Since protesting her coolness will get her exactly nowhere, she knows. ] He likes the sorts of things you like. Though he's a bloody lot sweeter than you.

[ She finally comes out and sits down. She kicks off her shoes, then curls up in the armchair like a cat, legs twisted up behind her. ]
